Everywhere you look you see displays of God’s greatness—the ocean with its waves and tides; the sky with its sun, stars, and moon; the earth with its mountains, valleys, rivers, and plains. All of these things point to a wonderful creator who planned things far beyond our ability to understand.

Nature proclaims God’s existence. It would be silly to think everything happened by chance. Do the planets just happen to stay in orbit without crashing into each other? Does the earth just happen to be the right distance from the sun to make it possible to live here? Not likely.

The skies display God’s craftsmanship. If you’ve ever stood outside and looked at the sky filled with stars, you may have felt pretty small in comparison. That’s because God, who is far greater than we can imagine, hung the stars in place. That might be how the psalmist was feeling when he penned Psalm 8, which says, “When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—the moon and the stars you set in place—what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?”

Yet God does care about human beings. He knows each one of us personally, and he cares about each trial or joy we have. It’s amazing to think that the same God who hung the sun, moon, and stars cares about our daily lives.
