Have you ever read suspense books? These are books where a main character is in trouble, and you don’t know what’s going to happen next. One Christian suspense author writes about scientists who create a group of what appears to be perfect humans. The problem is God didn’t create them, so they have no souls. They become ruthless killers. The good guys have to figure out how to track them down and destroy them—or the good guys will be destroyed!

God created the first man from the dust of the ground and breathed life into him. God placed the man in a beautiful garden filled with fruit trees. It was the perfect place to live, but Adam was alone and needed companionship. God put Adam to sleep, and then God formed Eve from one of Adam’s ribs.

Now God’s work of creation was complete. Only God can create humans and breathe life into them, and only God can give humans a spirit and soul so they can tell the difference between right and wrong.

For You

God created Adam and Eve in his own image. That doesn’t mean they physically looked like God, but they could share some of his characteristics. God created you in his image too. He wants you to be like him in your thoughts and actions. Take a look at your life and consider ways in which you resemble your heavenly Father.
