WHEN YOU WERE little, did you enjoy playing hide-and-seek?

Well, if you don’t have kids or grandkids around right now, you can rest assured: it’s still one of the most popular games for the younger set.

Some form of hide-and-seek is played in most countries of the world. Some sources have the game dating back at least as far as the 1600s.

Some older kids really pride themselves on being able to hide in indiscernible places. On the other end of the spectrum are the young ones. Perhaps you’ve played hide-and-seek with a little one. He or she will “hide” in someplace terribly obvious like a bathtub or behind a chair, in full view. The young ones become terribly excited when we pretend we can’t find them.

Their giggles make the game almost as much fun for us as it is for them!

When we’re seeking God, he’s not one of those master hiders that we have to search and search to find. Instead, he’s easily found. He’s right there in front of us, like those toddlers, just waiting for our eyes to focus on him.

God promises that when we look for him, we’ll find him. Whether we’re seeking his comfort, his guidance, his forgiveness, or even just his fellowship, he’s available. He’s waiting and longing for your relationship to grow. Open your heart and gaze with the eyes of faith; he promises you won’t be disappointed.
