Waiting On God’s Help

Waiting on God’s Help

I waited patiently for the LORD to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.

Psalm 40:1-2

A GIRL NAMED Stormie found herself in the middle of a “storm” herself. Her car ran out of gas in a dangerous part of town. She had to get help, but how?

“God, help,” she murmured. She didn’t know whether to get out and walk to a gas station or stay put and hope that someone kind would stop and help.

Fifteen minutes later, when she saw a man approach, Stormie locked her car doors. But the man called out to her, “I’m a local pastor, ma’am. Can I help you?”

David, the author of this psalm, could relate. Many times in David’s life, he cried out to God to rescue him, and God heard his cries and saved him, whether it was from his enemies or from depression.

What situations in your life require a “Lord, help!” kind of prayer? Call out to the Lord. He has promised to hear your cry, and he will set your feet on solid ground and steady you as you walk along.
