Still A Sinner

Prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then.

1 Peter 1:13-14

BECOMING A CHRISTIAN, trusting Christ, and even walking closely with him doesn’t mean you won’t make mistakes, commit errors, or even sin. Satan is always lurking, looking for any and every opportunity to lead you astray.

That’s why we have to be vigilant. How do we do that? By becoming obedient in every way the Bible calls us to. Like Marcus. One day he came upon something he’d stolen long ago from a family. God seemed to say he had to send it back. That’s what he did, worrying that the family would hate him. Instead, they thanked him and invited him to come visit!

Are you struggling with telling small lies to escape from inconvenient situations? Stop! Obey God’s Word, and speak the truth. Have you succumbed to Satan’s temptation to pad your expense account? Stop! Listen to God’s Word, and apply it.

One of the primary reasons God wants us to read, memorize, study, and meditate on his Word is so we will know what he wants of us. We cannot apply what we don’t know. We can’t know until we start to read his Word regularly, every day if possible.

God wants us to obey him, not just to avoid sin but also to gain his daily blessings on our lives. He promises always to reward good behavior with his gifts. So obey all you can. And then obey some more.
