Jesus On The Cross

He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.

1 Peter 2:24

SALVATION DIDN’T COME without a price. You didn’t have to pay a thing. But Jesus paid everything so that you can live.

Take a look at the Savior hanging on that cross. If you saw the movie The Passion of the Christ, you probably have a much clearer and more graphic idea of what Jesus went through to redeem us. There was the spitting, the ridicule, the sneers, the slaps in the face, the insults, the threats, and the taunts. Imagine going through that. Many of us get hurt just by an unkind word. Jesus was assaulted with a barrage of unkind, hateful, and nasty words, smacks, and punches.

Next came the whipping. How many of us had to turn away from the screen during the portrayal of that part of Jesus’ payment for our sins? It was brutal, debilitating, and obscene. Yet he endured it for us.

Finally, there was the cross. What horror and agony must Jesus have felt as his own Father left him and he was forced to cry, “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?” (Mark 15:34). They’d never been apart before. Ever. Not for a minute. Yet in that moment, Jesus experienced the anguish and separation from his beloved Father that those who don’t know Christ will suffer eternally in hell.

Perhaps now is a good time to bow your head and thank Jesus for all he did to heal your soul.
