In The Presence Of God

Let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.

Hebrews 10:22

IN THE DAYS when Jesus was on the earth, one of the great problems for all Jews was the sense of God’s aloofness. No one could go into the presence of God in the Temple except the high priest. He could do that only once a year, on the Day of Atonement, and when he went in, it was to make a special blood offering for the sins of the nation.

Every Jew who came into the Temple saw that separation. God was distinct, separate, utterly removed from his people.

But Jesus broke down that barrier. In Matthew 27:51, Matthew says that when Jesus died, the curtain, or veil, that separated the outer court from the inner court where God dwelled was torn in two. This symbolized the fact that anyone could now come in faith into God’s presence.

When you pray and when you worship, you literally enter the presence of God. You can’t see him, but you are there. You have a personal relationship with him in which he is your Father. What a great promise it is that we have access to the living God at any time, anywhere.
