In God’s House

Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the LORD forever.

Psalm 23:6

WHAT A TREMENDOUS thing to look forward to: living in God’s house forever! Can you imagine it?

What will happen in that house? What might we expect to go on there throughout eternity? The Bible reveals many things, but let’s think of a few. Worship? Yes, we will worship God on a level we haven’t even touched here on earth. Ever felt carried up in a special service, or some personal time of worship? Ever sensed the august presence and approval of God? For many, such times are rare. But they will be the daily experience of those living in God’s house.

Other things we’ll surely do are celebrate, hear great music, participate in grand feasts, and just have fun. We don’t know what God has planned, but clearly heaven won’t be boring. We’ll undoubtedly have responsibilities in building the new society that will be vast and endless. Most of all, we’ll get to know God more and more in his fullness.

Something else we’ll all go through will be literally walking with Jesus, up close, side by side, perhaps hand in hand. He will be present to all of us without any of us ever feeling neglected, forgotten, or overlooked. He will be there at all times and in all places.

Do you look forward to heaven? There’s a promise waiting for you to claim if you know God personally. He will get you there. Just trust him, and remember no matter how tough it gets in this world, this isn’t the end.
