God’s Masterpieces
God’s Masterpieces
We are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Ephesians 2:10
TEN-YEAR-OLD RICKY LOVES to create masterpieces. They are formed from Bionicle parts. Bionicles are the older kids’ answer to Legos—each kit of pieces makes one mechanical-type warrior.
However, Ricky uses the pieces to create his own warriors. He studies long and hard and takes a lot of time while he creates and puts different pieces together in different ways. His endeavors may look haphazard, but they’re not. After he’s finished crafting one of these warriors, he can tell you exactly what purposes the different parts serve.
Ricky is like most artists at work when they’re creating a new, special piece. They concentrate and work hard to make their masterpieces just right. They go to extra effort and take time to build perfection. And when they’re finished, they’re proud of their creations—for good reason!
The Scripture above reminds us that we are God’s masterpieces. He is the artist, and we are the outstanding works of his hands. Like Ricky and his Bionicles, God has created us to fit a purpose. He has developed our unique sets of abilities, temperaments, and personalities to fill a niche in his world in the time and place in which we live.
God doesn’t make junk. He creates only masterpieces. So today, remember his promise that you’re special and that he has a plan for your life.
