God Is A Morning Person

God Is a Morning Person

Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.

Lamentations 3:23

CHARLIE WAS NOT a morning person, and he let everyone know it. He joked that his midmorning third cup of coffee was the magic elixir to get him in high gear. He often felt overwhelmed by his problems at home and at work, taxing his strength and exhausting him. Yet his wife, Amber, seemed to roll with the punches and was able to handle all that came at her.

One night as Amber was getting into bed, Charlie asked his wife, “How do you pull it off, Amber?” So she told him her secret—just like manna in the desert, God had a fresh batch of mercy for her every morning before she started her day. He was faithful in terms of equipping her to handle life’s stresses after she had communed with him and “fed” on his Word.

Charlie decided to go to bed a bit earlier and see if getting up early enough to spend time with God would work for him, too. After a few mornings with his new routine, Charlie found that his days didn’t seem so exhausting—physically or spiritually. He found new mercies ready and waiting at the start of each day.

See how faithful God is as you start each day with him. He never slumbers or sleeps, and he can’t wait for you to spend some intimate time with him. He loves it when you let him know he’s the first thought in your day. And he promises to show you bountiful mercies when you do.

Feed on the Word of God. He promises blessings beyond anything you could imagine.
