Getting The Kingdom

Don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom.

Luke 12:32

THE LITTLE BOY was unbelievably quiet and timid. While the snacks were being passed out, he watched with big eyes but didn’t eagerly call out for them like the other children did. Finally, when everyone else had been served and he was asked if he wanted a treat, he quietly nodded.

One of the saddest things in life is to watch children whose spirits are broken act as if they don’t expect or deserve anything good out of life and almost seem afraid that everyone is going to yell at them for merely breathing!

Almost as sad is to watch adults who act this way—adults who act as if there is nothing lovable about them and that no one could care, even God. Adults who seem to believe that someone will inevitably find fault with them.

How many times do we act this way with God—afraid to enter his presence?

When it comes to approaching God, no matter what our personalities, we do not have to be timid, shy, or afraid. God is not only willing to meet our needs and wants but finds joy in caring for us and revealing more of himself to us.

Let’s boldly come to God, knowing that he’s a loving parent—delighted to give us good things!
