Escaping Temptation
Escaping Temptation
The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.
1 Corinthians 10:13
IF YOU WANT an adrenaline-pumping two hours, watch an action movie! You’ll probably see the hero dodging bullets, narrowly escaping being pulverized by part of a building or something else practically falling on him or her, barely missing being crunched in a car chase, and running away from an explosion. Although he or she will eventually be captured by the bad guys and possibly beaten around a bit, the good guy will somehow escape—sometimes several times. No matter what the predicament, the good guys always escape.
This Scripture verse promises us that those who love God can always escape too. We can escape the temptation that comes our way. Just as we can trust those screenwriters to keep a movie from becoming so intense that the hero doesn’t get out, we can trust God to keep the temptation from becoming so strong that we have to give in. We can trust him to provide an out, even if it’s at the last minute.
It’s not always easy to escape temptation, but it is always possible. So remember that the next time you feel as if the bad guys are closing in!
