Standing By His Promise

How would your life change if you lived with the knowledge that everything comes through the hand of God and that you can trust His plan? Many of us have this knowledge in our heads, but do we believe it in our hearts? Do we dig our roots deep into that fact?

In the book Success Made Simple: An Inside Look at Why Amish Businesses Thrive, Erik Wesner claims that 95 percent of all Amish businesses succeed, and one of the main reasons is customer service.

Underlying the idea of customer service is the concept of brotherly good. Considering how the average Amish businessperson’s life meshes with business, it’s no surprise to see the Golden Rule at play both in the day-to-day and in the shop.

Bishop Menno Graber offers his two cents on doing the right thing. “The more you put in, the more you get out,” he explains.

“It’s like anything else. You can’t get interest at the bank if you don’t put no money in! It’s just like charity. But you don’t have to go and tell a fellow that I donated so much money for this.

“If anything happens, we repair free,” says Menno, noting that he honors this guarantee on issues that appear even ten years after purchase. . . . Menno’s promise reflects confidence in his chairs’ craftsmanship.

There are people we trust in our lives, those we know will not fail us. More than any human person, God’s “business” focuses on our good. The more we send our roots deep into Him, the more sure of Him we become. If problems arise in your life, know that God will always stand beside His work: “We know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them” (Romans 8:28).

Can you plant your faith deep into His promises? If so, you can be at peace, knowing that God stands by His word.
