To Build A Better Marriage

To Build A Better Marriage

When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?”

John 5:6

If you want to build a stronger marriage, ask for help, professional and otherwise. For some people, there’s a stigma that goes along with counseling—that there’s something seriously wrong if you need to go to counseling. Let’s change that stigma. Let’s cheer people on when they want to make their marriages better. Let’s say “You’re so brave!” instead of “You’re so screwed up.”

Let me clarify one thing. Marriage is difficult, but abuse has no place in marriage. God’s design for your life does not include you being abused, verbally or physically. God’s call to stay and build marriages does not mean that you stay in a situation where you’re being abused.

In John 5, Jesus heals a man. There are lame and diseased men all around, and Jesus comes to one, and asks only one question: Do you want to get well? That’s the question: Do you want to be well? Don’t let pride or fear or worrying about what somebody will think stand in the way of being well, of being healed, of letting God work through a counselor to heal the broken spots in your marriage.

HAVE YOU sought help from a counselor? Do you want a strong marriage enough to ask for help when you need it?
