God’s Courage Can Be Yours

God’s Courage Can Be Yours

“Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted.” (Matthew 14:29–30, NLT)

In this biblical story, Peter decides to take a risk. We often stop the story when Peter begins to sink and Jesus reaches out his hand to save him. But look at what happens next: “When they climbed back into the boat, the wind stopped” (Matt: 14:32 NLT).

Peter did successfully walk on water. He walked with Jesus all the way back to the boat! And when they made it, the storm subsided.

When you dare to take a step of faith despite your fear, it may be the very thing that brings you closer to Jesus, lets you experience more than you ever imagined with him, and perhaps even leads you to the moment when the storm finally subsides.

Prayer:

God, I thank you that you have more in store for me than I can even imagine. I sense that you are asking me to take a step of faith by _____________________. Please give me the courage to step out and come to you. Amen.
