God’s Wonders
God’s Wonders
LORD, you’ve done wonderful things in the past and you’re doing wonderful things now. Sometimes it’s easy for me to notice the work of your hands, such as when I visit the Grand Canyon. Or when I hold a newborn baby and marvel at your plan to keep humankind going. Or when I step into a flower shop and catch the sweet fragrance of gardenias.
Other times—when things in my life aren’t going well—I’m not so quick to see your wonders. During those times, I’m especially grateful for your Word. As I read it, I’m reminded of those who have come before me, many of whom were in dire situations, yet trusted you and lived to see wonders they couldn’t have imagined. Moses witnessed the horrible Egyptian plagues, yet he saw you part the waters of the Red Sea. Hannah was childless, yet she eventually experienced the thrill of bearing and raising several children. Jesus’ followers witnessed his gruesome death on the cross, yet they were visited by Jesus after he rose from the dead. Then he blessed them with the presence of the Holy Spirit.
God, please give me grace to trust you, whether I’m seeing your wonders now . . . or waiting for some yet to come.
