Elderly Parent
Elderly Parent
ABBA, FATHER, my earthly father-in-law is now very old, and day by day the light of his life is flickering. He is deep in the winter of his years, with stooped shoulders, eyes that no longer see, and ears that barely hear. Others must care for his many needs these days.
He has trusted you for salvation, and he looks forward to the day he will see your face. He is a man who has followed your path. The way ahead of him is winding toward the dark valley of death; he is approaching his river Jordan. With his eyes of faith, he seems to sense the brilliance of the land beyond, a colorful land of beauty scented by the fragrance of true fellowship. It will someday be his home of complete Sabbath rest.
Lord, please give him unfaltering courage and fullness of hope when he approaches the river of final passing. May you carry him in your arms and fill him with joy at the prospect of seeing your face.
Because I am righteous, I will see you.
When I awake, I will see you face to face and be satisfied.
Psalm 17:15
