Desperation
Desperation
GOD OF HEAVEN, there are times in my life—and the lives of my family and friends—when I realize how very desperate I am for your help. Someone has received a cancer diagnosis. Someone’s lost a job. Someone’s experiencing a lengthy depression. Someone’s feeling trapped in a situation with no clear resolution.
When we’re desperate, we fear we’re going to crumble. We feel as if we’re in an emotional tsunami. Just about the time we seem to recover from one crashing wave, another one comes breaking over us. Sometimes we don’t know how we will keep going.
Please be my refuge, God, and give me your help and strength. I can’t muster up my own. Please send people to encourage me. Please send ministering servants—your angels—to protect me. Please settle my heart. May I take time to be still and remember that you are God. My eyes are on you, Father. Please provide me with whatever I need—in this hour and in the days ahead. I choose to depend on you, the only one in the whole world who is totally dependable.
I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
