Romans 8:28

We know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Sometimes in life we go through difficult, painful circumstances that also seem utterly meaningless. We can’t imagine our suffering will accomplish anything. What a sad waste of my time, energy, and emotion, we lament. It’s during these times that we need to cling to this beautiful promise in Scripture: God turns everything into good—even the evil, gut-wrenching agonies of life. From beginning to end, we read stories in the Bible that show God keeping his promise to turn bad into good. Perhaps you’re in the trenches of deep sadness and have yet to see God carry out this promise. Cling to this verse. Instead of believing your pain is meaningless, choose to trust that God will work everything together for your benefit.
