Matthew 14:27

Matthew 14:27

Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here!”

Jesus had told his disciples to sail across the lake while he attended to the crowds they had just fed. While the disciples were crossing, a strong wind stirred up the waves. Jesus walked on the water to meet them, but they were afraid, thinking he was a ghost. Jesus called out, “Don’t be afraid. . . . Take courage. I am here!” Sometimes Jesus quiets the storms and fears in our lives, and other times he meets us in the midst of them. Perhaps you have been caught in a storm for a while and are wondering if Jesus even sees your distress. Allow this verse to give you strength and encouragement as you wait for the storm to pass. You have nothing to fear because Jesus is with you.
