Joshua 1:9

This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.

In this verse, the Lord commissioned Joshua to lead the people of Israel. How much pressure might Joshua have experienced as Moses’ successor? When God calls us to a big task, he enables us to do it with strength and courage. Perhaps you are facing an undertaking that feels far beyond your abilities. God speaks these empowering words of encouragement to you too: Do not be afraid. Do not let discouragement keep you from doing a job well. Don’t give up. God is with you and has promised to neither fail you nor leave you to accomplish this task alone. Take it one day at a time and trust that he will be with you every step of the way.
