1 Samuel 3:9
1 Samuel 3:9
Speak, LORD, your servant is listening.
God called to Samuel, a young boy, three times one night, but Samuel didn’t recognize his voice. Then Eli the priest realized the Lord had been speaking. Eli told Samuel that if the Lord called a fourth time, he should say, “Speak, LORD, your servant is listening.” Samuel didn’t know the Lord before this, but how often do we who already know him push through life without listening for his guidance? How many times has he called us but we’ve failed to recognize his voice? How often do we pray but neglect to wait quietly for God’s answer? How often do we come to God with our own agendas instead of asking for his? Take time to be still before God so you can pray these six simple words. If God has something to say, you don’t want to miss it.
