Top Of His List - One Minute Prayers for Women with Cancer
Top of His List
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” (Matthew 5:3-4, ESV)
“Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.” (Psalm 62:5-6, NIV)
“Let your steadfast love comfort me according to your promise to your servant.”
(Psalm 119:76, ESV)
If it feels like your cancer has demoted you to the bottom of God’s “who’s loved and important” list, I understand. Isn’t he more interested in people on fire for him, the ones proclaiming the gospel from rooftops and bringing justice and love to the oppressed? Nope, not at all. He calls you—yes, you—blessed! Not only that, but in his compassion, he promises comfort. Everyone is at the top of his list. Come to him today and you’ll find the comfort you crave.
Lord God, I’m so grateful for these words of Jesus. Remind me how, rather than being forgotten, I’m blessed. My spirit is weak, my heart aches, and I don’t feel blessed. Yet even here, in the depths of my sadness, you promise comfort and tell me the kingdom of heaven is mine. Thank you. Your words lift my spirits and bring me hope. As I come to you today with all my sadness on display, put your arms around me so I might know the truth of your promise. Comfort me, Lord.
