Magnificent Prayer #59
Magnificent Prayer #59
I thank my God every time I remember you.
Philippians 1:3
What a blessed habit I have found my prayer list; morning by morning, it takes me via the Throne of all Grace straight to the intimate personal heart of each one [listed], and I know that He who is not proscribed by time and geography answers immediately.

Pray About It: Many Christians benefit from keeping a written list of their requests, possibly in a journal. This serves two purposes. First, it can help us remember those we want to pray for or those for whom we have promised to pray. Second, as we see answers to prayer, we can enter the dates and the way that God answers. As such, it can be a great faith builder.
One word of caution: don’t be so dependent on the list that you rattle off your prayers as though you were simply reading it—or worse, that on a day of discouragement, you don’t do what one fellow reportedly did—he simply held up his prayer list and said, “God, I’m too tired to pray today. Here, read this!”
A most beneficial exercise in secret prayer before the Father is to write things down exactly so I see exactly what I think and want to say. Only those who have tried these ways know the ineffable benefit of such strenuous times in secret.
