Magnificent Prayer #162
O LORD, I call to you; come quickly to me.
Hear my voice when I call to you.
May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.
Psalm 141:1–2
Prayer pulls the rope below, and the great bell rings above in the ears of God. Some scarcely stir the bell, for they pray so languidly; others give but an occasional pluck at the rope; but he who wins with heaven is the man who grasps the rope boldly and pulls continuously, with all his might.

Pray About It: This is a wonderful image of prayer. We can picture the large steeple bell and see ourselves standing below with the rope in our hands. We are commissioned to ring the bell, and what is our response? A slight tug, an occasional jerk? Or do we with both hands pull boldly with all our might?
So let our prayers be today. Ring the bell loudly.
O the boldness with which we can draw near! O the great things we have a right to ask for!
