We Can Live Like Jesus - Let's Go

We Can Live like Jesus

Scripture Readings:

Luke 2:4-7

John 1:14

Matthew 4:23

Did you know there are over 400 years between the last events of the Old Testament and when Jesus came to earth? Some people had given up hope that Jesus, the Messiah God promised, would come. But others remembered the truth that God ALWAYS keeps His promises. And a big promise was fulfilled on a night in the small town of Bethlehem when Jesus was born.

Jesus may not have looked all that different from a distance as He was growing up. But when people got close to learn from Him and be with Him, they could tell something was different about this young Jewish boy.

Jesus grew up and followed His heavenly Father’s plan for His life. He taught people about God, He performed miracles showing God’s power at work, and He showed God’s love toward everyone around Him. Jesus lived a perfect life, meaning He never sinned. You might be wondering, “Wait . . . how is it possible that Jesus was a human but never sinned?” Well, this is because Jesus was fully God and fully human.

If you’re having a hard time wrapping your mind around that, join the club. The reality is there are lots of things about God that are hard for humans to fully understand, but that’s okay—and it certainly doesn’t make them any less true.

God sent Jesus to earth to be our Savior, which basically means He came to save us from the punishment for our sins so that we can be with God forever. Jesus also served as the most excellent example of how we can live our lives as a reflection of God. Remember, we’re made in God’s image. Sin can get in the way, making it hard to see God’s goodness in us and the world. But it’s still there.

Jesus showed the world God’s goodness in the flesh. He loved others and honored God in all He did. And we can go out and follow His example.
