Momentary Miracles

Jesus is in the world today, at this moment.

He is present and alive, His Spirit blowing through the moments of our days. He is seeking someone to heal, someone to save, someone to whom He can extend redeeming love—and it will all happen through mere humans, those whose feet are made of clay. He is alive, and He lives through us.

All of us, with different skills, shapes, personalities, liabilities, and stories, are here for a short few years to faithfully live out a miracle. His presence invades the things of the earth. His love permeates the places of the lonely, His joy fills the air—but how? Through us. He is in us and wants to bring the miracle of Himself to this world, through limited, earthly jars of clay.

How will we honor this vast miracle of His life in us?

Today, who needs us to give something He wants to provide?

What do we have in us today that His Spirit would give to those present in our lives?

Someone needs His words of encouragement and hope—who is the person He would love through us?

Someone needs a cup of cold water, a sandwich, a cup of tea, an eye-to-eye encounter that says, “You are of great value—you are not condemned. I love you. He loves you.” Who will that be?

His Promises

Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.

Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven. When you give to someone in need, don’t do as the hypocrites do—blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets to call attention to their acts of charity! I tell you the truth, they have received all the reward they will ever get. But when you give to someone in need, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.

For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home.
