Your Most Important Relationship

Lord, how do you invite me into relationship with you?

Your friendship with me was restored by the death of my Son while you were still my enemy. So now you can rejoice in your wonderful new relationship with me because Jesus Christ has made us friends. Your heart has heard me say, “Come and talk with me.” And your heart responds, “LORD, I am coming.”

What do I talk about with you?

Give all your worries and cares to me, for I care about you. Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell me what you need, and thank me for all I have done. Then you will experience my peace, which exceeds anything you can understand. My peace will guard your heart and mind as you live in Christ Jesus.

What can I pray to respond to your invitation?

Speak, your servant is listening.

God offers you a daily invitation to engage in relationship with him. Each day he invites you into his presence, wanting to both listen to you and share his counsel with you. There is no concern too small and no trouble too big. God invites you to pray, to tell him everything and exchange your worry for his peace. This morning, take out a sheet of paper and make three lists: one list of your needs, one list of your worries, and one list of things for which you are grateful to God. Pray through each item on the list in conversation with God. After each one, pause to listen and write down anything that comes to mind.
