What Are You Worth?

Lord, I often feel tempted to doubt my worth. How do you see me?

I created human beings in my own image. Male and female I created them. I chose to give birth to you by giving you my true word. And you, out of all creation, became my prized possession. You are my masterpiece. I have created you anew in Christ Jesus, so you can do the good things I planned for you long ago.

But how am I worthy of being your “prized possession”?

Even before I made the world, I loved you and chose you in Christ to be holy and without fault in my eyes. I decided in advance to adopt you into my own family by bringing you to myself through Jesus Christ. This is what I wanted to do, and it gave me great pleasure.

Ephesians 1:4-5

What can I pray when I feel worthless?

How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! What are mere mortals that you should think about us, human beings that you care for us? You have made us a little lower than yourself and crowned us with glory and honor.

Psalm 139:17; Psalm 8:4-5

God doesn’t base your worth on your appearance or accomplishments. He sees you as worthy because he created you in his image, adopted you into his family, and loves you as his child. Think of a statement that can anchor you in the truth of your worth. For example, “I am a child of God” or “My heavenly Father calls me his prized possession.” Enter this statement in your phone and have it pop up every morning as a daily reminder of your great worth in God’s eyes.
