Tune In To Wisdom
Tune In To Wisdom
Lord, how can I know what you want from me?
Be still, and know that I am God! My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear me, and you will gain knowledge of me. For I grant wisdom! From my mouth come knowledge and understanding.
Psalm 46:10; Proverbs 2:1-6
How does wisdom foster a more discerning heart?
A wise person is hungry for knowledge, while the fool feeds on trash. Wise people treasure knowledge, but the babbling of a fool invites disaster. Wisdom is enshrined in an understanding heart. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will fill you with joy. Wise choices will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe.
Proverbs 15:14; Proverbs 10:14; Proverbs 14:33; Proverbs 2:10-11
What can I pray to gain more wisdom from you?
O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you. Fear of you is the foundation of true wisdom. All who obey your commandments will grow in wisdom. Give me an understanding heart so that I can know the difference between right and wrong.
Psalm 63:1; Psalm 111:10; 1 Kings 3:9
A discerning heart hungers and thirsts for God, the source of wisdom and knowledge. Today, practice tuning your ears to wisdom. Read a psalm aloud (Psalms 27, 34, 51, and 103 are good choices). Pay careful attention to the words and how they affect you. What message are you receiving? What did you learn about wise living?
