Lord, what are your plans for the future?

I am creating new heavens and a new earth, and no one will even think about the old ones anymore. Look, my home will now be among my people! I will live with them, and they will be my people. I will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things will be gone forever.

How does this give me hope for my future?

That is why you never give up. Though your body is dying, your spirit is being renewed every day. For your present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for you a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So don’t look at the troubles you can see now; rather, fix your gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things you see now will soon be gone, but the things you cannot see will last forever.

What can I pray to maintain an eternal perspective?

Lord, help me to live as a citizen of heaven, conducting myself in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ.

Philippians 1:27

Your greatest hope is knowing the story of your future. For those who love God, that future includes the eternal joy and glories of a new earth—a place so wonderful it will far outweigh even the greatest happiness you have experienced on this earth. Pause and reflect on your story. What are you struggling with in this current season? What have you had to suffer in the past? Say a word of praise to God that he is the author of your story. Even though you have trials and conflicts, your ending will be complete healing and renewal for all eternity.
