How To Know What Is Truly Best For You - In the Morning When I Rise
How To Know What Is Truly Best For You
Lord, how could you close a door on something I so badly wanted?
My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts, and my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will cause everything to work together for the good of those who love me and are called according to my purpose.
Isaiah 55:8; Isaiah 43:19; Romans 8:28
Lord, is there a story from your Word to encourage me to be open to your plan?
Paul and Silas traveled through the area of Phrygia and Galatia, because the Holy Spirit had prevented them from preaching the word in the province of Asia at that time. They headed north for the province of Bithynia, but again the Spirit of Jesus did not let them go there. That night, Paul had a vision. A man from northern Greece was pleading with him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us!” So they decided to leave at once, having concluded that I was calling them to preach the Good News there.
Acts 16:6-10
What can I pray when I feel discouraged by a closed door?
Show me the right path, O LORD; point out the road for me to follow. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you. Fill me completely with joy and peace because I trust in you. Then I will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Psalm 25:4; Psalm 143:8; Romans 15:13
Closed doors often put us in the perfect position to release our expectations and instead be open to greater things from God. God loves to surprise his people with plans that surpass their own. Pray this prayer this morning as you think about a closed door in your life: “Lord, I release _____ to you. I am excited to see how you will work out your plans for _____.”
