The Bible was written so long ago. How can it be relevant to me today?

My word is alive and powerful. All my promises prove true. The grass withers, and the flowers fade, but my word stands forever. Study my commandments and reflect on my ways. Delight in my decrees and do not forget my word. My word is a lamp to guide your feet and a light for your path.

What is the power of Scripture? How does your Word guide me?

All Scripture is inspired by me and is useful to teach you what is true and to make you realize what is wrong in your life. It corrects you when you are wrong and teaches you to do what is right. I use it to prepare and equip my people to do every good work.

What can I pray to open my heart to be shaped by your Word?

Your commandments give me understanding, Lord. When I discovered your words, I devoured them. They are my joy and my heart’s delight. Oh, that my actions would consistently reflect your decrees! Then I will not be ashamed when I compare my life with your commands. As I learn your righteous regulations, I will thank you by living as I should!

Through reading and studying the Bible, you engage in a holy conversation with God. His Word is a dynamic source of transformation and fruitfulness. If God has the power to speak all of creation into existence, his written words in Scripture have just as much transforming power.
