Ending The Rebellion
Ending The Rebellion
Lord, what happens when I rebel against you—when I go ahead and do what I know I shouldn’t?
Everyone who sins is breaking my law, for all sin is contrary to my law. Anyone who keeps on sinning does not know me or understand who I am. My eyes watch over those who do right, and my ears are open to their prayers. But I turn my face against those who do evil.
1 John 3:4, 6; 1 Peter 3:12
Can you help me desire your life-giving ways?
Put all your rebellion behind you. I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations. For I am working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases me.
Ezekiel 18:31; Ezekiel 36:26-27; Philippians 2:13
What truth can I pray to transform my rebellious heart?
For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of your glorious standard. Yet, in your grace, you freely make me right in your sight. You did this through Christ Jesus when he freed me from the penalty for my sins.
Romans 3:23-24
God’s love is for everyone—rebel or righteous. Check your heart this morning. Would you describe it as soft and tender? Or is it hard and stony? Pray Ezekiel 36:26-27 over any known rebellion to the Lord and ask him to give you a tender and responsive heart to him in this area.
