You Can Point The Way
Lord, how can I point children to Jesus?
You must love me with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourself wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.

What is the impact of this kind of example?
Do not hide these truths from your children; tell the next generation about my glorious deeds, about my power and my mighty wonders. I commanded your ancestors to teach my instructions to their children, so the next generation might know them—even the children not yet born—and they in turn will teach their own children. So each generation should set its hope anew on me, not forgetting my glorious miracles and obeying my commands. Then they will learn that I alone am called the LORD, that I alone am the Most High, supreme over all the earth.

What can I pray when I feel insufficient as a parent?
So if we sinful people know how to give good gifts to our children, how much more will you, our heavenly Father, give good gifts to those who ask you?

Teaching children God’s ways and pointing them to the grace of Jesus is one of the greatest gifts you can offer. It will have an impact on generations to come. Pray right now for your children, your grandchildren, and your great-grandchildren to continue the legacy of faith. Look for an opportunity to share Jesus with your children this evening. Read them a Bible story before bed, pray about what’s bothering them, or share what God is doing in your life. If you don’t have children, pray for a child you know.
