Why Truth Matters

Why Truth Matters

Lord, with so much access to information, how can I know what is really true?

The very essence of my words is truth; all my just regulations will stand forever. I was born and came into the world to testify to the truth. All who love the truth recognize that what I say is true.

Psalm 119:160; John 18:37

Lord Jesus, why is being able to recognize the truth so important?

I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. This truth gives you confidence that you have eternal life, which I promised before the world began—and I do not lie.

John 14:6; Titus 1:2

What can I pray when I need you to guide me to the truth?

Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your instructions. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.

Psalm 119:18; Psalm 25:5

A predominant view today is that we can create our own truth. This contradicts God’s Word. Truth comes from God, who is the ultimate authority, who created everything and is sovereign over all that exists. His Word guides us into what is true and right. Set aside some time this evening to immerse yourself in Scripture. Start with Romans 1 and continue reading as long as you can. Pray that God will use this time to teach you to recognize what is true when you’re faced with so many conflicting ideas.
