Unclutter Your Life
Unclutter Your Life
Lord, how can I live simply?
Don’t worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear. Life is more than food, and your body more than clothing. Look at the ravens. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for my Father feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than any birds! This world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases me will live forever.
Luke 12:22-24; 1 John 2:17
But is simplicity even possible in this complicated, busy world?
You are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about: Love me with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind. And love your neighbor as yourself. Do this and you will live!
Luke 10:41-42; Luke 10:27-28
What can I pray to focus on simple living?
Father, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. Give me each day the food I need, and forgive my sins as I forgive those who sin against me. And don’t let me yield to temptation.
Luke 11:2-4
Simplicity is letting go of the things that clutter and complicate your life in order to better focus on the more fulfilling life that Jesus promises. It’s not about getting rid of all your things but rather about experiencing freedom from being a slave to them. Which area in your life do you feel the Lord calling you to simplify? Your possessions? Expectations? Perfectionism? Schedule? Commitments? Ask God to help you learn how to let go in order to experience real freedom by focusing on what really matters.
