Let Your Good Deeds Shine - In the Evening When I Rest
Let Your Good Deeds Shine
Lord, what do good deeds say about my faith?
What good is it if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.
James 2:14-17
How do my actions affect those around me?
You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. Let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise me.
Matthew 5:14-16
What can I pray when I want my good deeds to shine for you?
Oh, that my actions would consistently reflect your decrees! Then I will not be ashamed when I compare my life with your commands. As I learn your righteous regulations, I will thank you by living as I should!
Psalm 119:5-7
Is your life a recommendation to follow Jesus? If people were to look at the way you live, would it be obvious that you follow Christ? Would your actions inspire others to want more of Jesus in their lives?
