The Rearview Mirror

God reveals Himself in rearview mirrors. And I’ve an inkling that there are times when we need to drive a long, long distance, before we can look back and see God’s back in the rearview mirror. Maybe sometimes about as far as heaven—that kind of distance.

My precious child, your journey through suffering has been long. I hear your questions: “Why doesn’t God come to my rescue? What good can come out of this impossible situation? Why do other people have easy lives, but my family is falling apart? How long do I have to wait for answers to my prayers? Does God really love me if He allows me to struggle in the midst of so much pain?”

Please know that I hear you. I see you. I am aware of your misery. In this world you may not fully understand why some people are rescued from adversity and others continue to struggle. But relying on Me in the midst of your difficulty will strengthen the foundation of your faith. It will reveal My faithfulness to your children and grandchildren. When you still experience My supernatural peace in the middle of your trials, it is a testimony to the world that your faith is based on a secure relationship with Me. Remember this. One day you will look back and understand My plan. Your trust will be rewarded.

And these men of faith, though they trusted God and won his approval, none of them received all that God had promised them; for God wanted them to wait and share the even better rewards that were prepared for us.
