The Best Defense

The reason we must put on the whole armor of God is to withstand evil. We don’t war against people, but against a spiritual hierarchy of invisible power.

I will provide all the protection you need. You can count on Me to be your Defender and your Guard. When you hear bad news or when unexpected setbacks occur, your natural tendency is to withdraw and shrink back from your normal routine. That gives fear an open door. Instead, practice the daily habit of putting on My armor. It is your best defense against the cunning attacks of the enemy.

First, stand your ground—Satan is already defeated because you belong to Me. Rely on My power to make you strong. Here are the additional steps I want you to take: Put on the belt of truth and the body armor of My righteousness. Slip into the shoes of My peace, well balanced to combat evil. Confidently hold the shield of faith—the fiery arrows of the devil cannot penetrate it. Remember that the devil is deceitful and will try to hit you in your most vulnerable place. Don the helmet of salvation and grasp the sword of My Word in your hands. Be persistent in prayer for yourself and for others. Stay alert! (Ephesians 6:14-18). If you follow My instructions, you will win this battle—today and every day!

Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.
