Who can add to Christmas? The perfect motive is that God so loved the world. The perfect gift is that He gave His only Son. The only requirement is to believe in Him. The reward of faith is that you shall have everlasting life.

Instead of letting yourself become frazzled and worn out with Christmas preparations, take time to contemplate what My Son, Jesus, did. He left the divine privileges of heaven to come to earth in a human form. He grew to manhood, and in complete obedience to Me willingly died a criminal’s death on the cross for you. His birthday is cause for great celebration! My prophet Isaiah said it well: “For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).

Today you will have many opportunities to celebrate—gathered with family and friends, eating together and exchanging gifts. Will you take time to thank Me for your best gift—Jesus? Will you remind everyone you see that it’s Jesus’ birthday? Will you spend time in My presence and consider what Jesus’ coming means? Because He came, you have a glorious life awaiting you in a place with no pain, no fear, and no end. It’s all because He came.
