The Advocate

What does the Spirit do? Scripture says He comforts the saved. He convicts the lost. He conveys the truth. Have you ever been convicted? Ever sensed a stab of sorrow for your actions? Understood a new truth? Then you’ve been touched by the Holy Spirit.

You are never without support. When you need wisdom, I will be your Teacher. When you are grieving, I will be your Comforter. When you don’t know which direction to go because too many people are giving you advice, I will be your Guide. When you make wrong choices, I will bring conviction, pointing the way to confession and restored joy. When you can’t find the words to represent your deepest needs, My Spirit will intercede on your behalf “with groanings that cannot be expressed in words” (Romans 8:26).

You can’t escape My presence. I am never preoccupied with distractions. I am here as your Backer—providing everything you need to assure you of a future hope beyond this world. I will guide you to truth, keep you on course, reassure you during fear, and console you in loss. Hear Me whisper again and again, “I am with you. I am with you. I am with you.”

But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
