Temptation
Temptation
The temptation battle is the most important battle you will ever fight.
John Ortberg
I will never lead you into sin. “Remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, ‘God is tempting me.’ God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else” (James 1:13). Temptation is born out of your own desires, which entice you and lure you away from My will. Those desires lead to sinful actions (James 1:14-15).
I see you struggling with the pull of Satan’s subtle offerings, and I know you sometimes feel weak. “Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak” (Mark 14:38). Understand the power of Scripture to overcome temptation. Meditate on the psalmist’s words: “I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you” (Psalm 119:11). When My Word becomes an integral part of your life, you will be fortified against temptation’s power. Make this a matter of prayer. Jesus told His disciples to pray that they might not fall into temptation (Luke 22:40), and you should do the same. You will experience temptations, but you can overcome them!
The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.
1 Corinthians 10:13
