Tears

The Christian life is not a constant high. I have my moments of deep discouragement. I have to go to God in prayer with tears in my eyes, and say, “O God, forgive me,” or “Help me.”

Dear child, your tears are so important to Me that I keep track of each one. The psalmist said, “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book” (Psalm 56:8). Weeping is not a sign of weakness, and tears have many triggers—grief, joy, compassion, gratitude, loneliness, fear, and contrition. Right now, most of your tears come from sorrow, and when you are in deep anguish, you cry out for My comfort and help. I always hear your voice, and I understand your pain (Psalm 18:6). When you are sad, I’m listening, and I will save you from your troubles (Psalm 34:6).

When clouds of grief try to overtake you, ask Me for consolation and relief. Cry out to Me in your times of trouble, and I will save you from your distress (Psalm 107:19). A much better day is coming, and it won’t be long before My promise is fulfilled. “He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever. . . . What I tell you is trustworthy and true” (Revelation 21:4-5). One day your tears will be permanently replaced with joy.

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
