Talking To God

Beware in your prayers, above everything else, of limiting God, not only by unbelief, but by fancying that you know what He can do. Expect unexpected things “above all that we ask or think.”

Prayer is simply a conversation with Me. You talk. I listen. You share your praises, concerns, joys, and sorrows, and sometimes you speak to Me through tears about your urgent needs. I respond to you through My Word, or sometimes through the wise counsel of people who spend a lot of time with Me. Sometimes I speak to you through the inner impression of your heart when you’re meditating on Scripture and earnestly seeking My help or when you’re eager to do My will.

The biggest barrier to your prayers is unbelief. Sometimes you pray, but you don’t think I will answer or intervene in your situation. Have you forgotten that I’m the Creator of the universe and have immeasurable resources that I long to use on your behalf? Pray boldly and expect Me to respond. I may answer in a different way than you’re expecting, but I know what’s best for you and for those you love.

If you don’t know what you’re doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You’ll get his help, and won’t be condescended to when you ask for it. Ask boldly, believingly, without a second thought. People who “worry their prayers” are like wind-whipped waves.
