Surrender

Surrender

I saw that my hand was in another hand. That hand was pierced . . . it was Jesus’ hand. I never before understood what surrender meant—our weak hand in Jesus’ strong hand! His strength in our life! Surrender to the Lord Jesus is dynamic and relaxed.

Corrie ten Boom

You’ve been resisting a key part of the Christian life: surrender. On the surface, surrendering seems like abdicating responsibility and not following through. But the truth is that surrendering simplifies things. It’s yielding to the nudge of My Spirit and allowing Me to gently lead you. You thought it was an admission of defeat and giving in to your fatigue. But the kind of surrender I want you to learn is very different from that.

Place your hand in My nail-pierced hand and allow yourself to follow Me, even though you have no idea where we’re going. Realize that your timing is not My timing and be patient. Practice the mind-set of expecting a miracle without having any idea of how I will provide the answer to your prayer. Believe that I know the end from the beginning and I know how all the puzzle pieces of your life fit together. Your hand in mine—this is the beginning of surrender.

Now I will take the load from your shoulders; I will free your hands from their heavy tasks.
