Small Things
Small Things
There are thousands willing to do great things for one willing to do a small thing.
George MacDonald
There’s a verse in Zechariah that asks an important question: “Who has despised the day of small things?” (4:10, NKJV). I sense your frustration over all the pressures of life that have been thrust upon you. It feels like you aren’t accomplishing any of your big goals. Stop and think of the small things mentioned in My Word that made a big difference in people’s lives—a little boy’s lunch, a cup of cold water, coins given by a widow, and a babe in a Bethlehem manger.
When you do small acts of kindness in My name, I am glorified. I’ve noticed your faithfulness in caring for a loved one who needs assistance. I’ve seen your genuine concern for hurting people. I’ve watched you give to a worthy cause. These acts of generosity and compassion have not gone unnoticed. “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones” (Luke 16:10). One day you will understand that the little things are actually the big things when they are done in My name. Do not despise the day of small things. I see you. I know your heart. Your attitude brings Me joy.
Truly I tell you, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to the Messiah will certainly not lose their reward.
Mark 9:41, NIV
