Relinquishment

We can hug our hurts and make a shrine out of our sorrows or we can offer them to God as a sacrifice of praise. The choice is ours.

Seek to do My will above all else. Every fiber of your being wants to control the outcome in your hard places. You wish your loved one would stop being self-destructive. You long for a day when everything goes according to your well-ordered plan, but life hasn’t provided that kind of security for a long time. Most of all, you wish the person closest to you would worship Me gladly without having to be reminded of how important it is to put Me in the place of highest honor. Everything feels out of your hands.

Heart sacrifices demand relinquishment. Identify someone or something precious to you. Verbalize your willingness to let go of your control over that person or situation. This is your act of worship to Me. Take a deep breath as you embrace My love while loosening your grip. Say, “Lord, I rest in the outcome, even if I’m not allowed to understand the reason for this sacrifice. I’m letting go.”

This is what the LORD says: Because you have obeyed me and have not withheld even your son, your only son, I swear by my own name that I will certainly bless you.
