I hope you will say YES to being uncomfortable. Say YES to that redeemable, uncomfortable person sitting in front of you.

Brooklyn Lindsey

Sometimes your most impossible situation is when a person you love is making wrong choices. As you repeatedly witness the negative results of his immoral thinking, bad behavior, disrespect of guidelines, and running away from Christian principles, you’re very discouraged and incensed. At times you’ve called him out on his repeated disregard for everything that’s important to you. You’ve even been unhappy with Me because you’ve asked Me to stop him in his tracks, turn him in the right direction, and force him to fall in line. Sometimes you’ve even tried to be Me in his life—but it hasn’t worked.

You’ll never be able to push him into changing for the better. It’s your job to represent Me by exhibiting My love, My peace, and My perseverance. Instead of agonizing over what he’s doing to himself and to your family, cover him with prayer. Be humble, gentle, and patient—especially when he makes you uncomfortable. There has never been a person who was not redeemable. Turn your churning emotions into songs of deliverance. Ask My Holy Spirit to give you a quiet heart, and then keep on loving that person. Unconditional love is hard to resist.

Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.

Ephesians 4:2-3
