Ordinary People

Ordinary People

Don’t assume you have to be extraordinary to be used by God. You don’t have to have exceptional gifts, talents, abilities, or connections. God specializes in using ordinary people whose limitations and weaknesses make them ideal showcases for His greatness and glory.

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

I use ordinary people to carry out My extraordinary plan. One day the angel Gabriel told a teenage girl named Mary that she would give birth to the Son of God. She wondered how this could be, since she was a virgin. Gabriel responded, “Nothing will be impossible with God” (Luke 1:37, NASB). There are times when you feel too unqualified, too weak, or too average to do My work. The enemy jeers, “You’re nobody special. You aren’t educated enough. You don’t have enough experience. There are other people who are much more qualified.” Tell him to leave immediately! I have already equipped you with everything you need to carry out My plans.

Throughout the Scriptures you will discover that I often use unlikely people to do improbable things for eternal purposes. Study the lives of Moses, David, the apostle Paul, and Mary, the mother of Jesus. They were human beings who were sometimes reluctant, rebellious, arrogant, or shy—until they followed Me with total abandon. They were ordinary people who gave Me their potential. My power shows up best when you offer Me your greatest weakness and then exchange it for My strength.

I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
